2017 Honda CR-V: Design Changes and New Features

Compact SUVs are booming in popularity these days, but a model that practically defined the segment two decades ago is the Honda CR-V. For the 2017 model-year, Honda gave the CR-V a complete overhaul, making it an even more appealing choice for compact SUV shoppers. Read about its design changes and new features.

2017 CR-V Exterior Design

Honda took the exterior styling of the 2017 CR-V in a more aggressive direction, with crisp and sharp front-end design elements, aggressive stylized headlights surrounded by a wing-shaped LED DRL array on all trims and wide, muscular fenders. Also, the long hood, longer wheelbase, short rear overhang and dual exhausts give the new CR-V a more sophisticated and athletic look.

New Powertrain and Chassis in 2017 CR-V

The 2017 CR-V also offers the model’s first ever turbocharged engine, a more powerful 1.5-liter DOHC, direct-injected and turbocharged in-line 4-cylinder powerplant, delivering 190 horsepower (EX and higher). CR-V LX trims are powered by a 2.4-liter DOHC, direct-injected i-VTECÔ engine. Also, the 2017 CR-V’s all-new body and chassis design — with front MacPherson strut and rear multi-link suspension — provides more agile and confident handling, greater refinement, additional ground clearance and superior overall versatility.
